A Monkey with a Sharpie: An Era of Sycophants by Aithal

This is tremendous, addictive fun. I’m familiar with Don the Orangutan…I’ve read a couple of other short stories in which he features, and I thoroughly enjoyed them.

So, Don. Well, he’s an orangutan. He’s quite orange, obviously. He’s rather absurd, a bit despotic, narcissistic and megalomaniacal. And…rather dangerous. I’m not sure much more needs to be said about the fact that this is obviously a (brilliant) parody. Our Don here may, just may, remind you of someone. (See About the Book below.)

Every page delivers smart, witty and entertaining dialogue. It’s a delight from start to finish. I have to say I’m not a re-reader: once a book is finished, that’s pretty much it, it’s been read (and reviewed!) and I’m on to the next. But this one so deserves a second outing because of the sharp delivery and brilliantly characterised animals.

Put this on your TBR. You won’t regret it.
