Beasts of New York by Jon Evans

I loved this book - think Richard Adams' Watership Down and this is the squirrel version. I probably would have overlooked this book in a bookstore, but I read it on recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed it. It really was a page turner (or page clicker). It's well-written and extraordinarily well-observed - the view of the world from a squirrel's perspective is ingenious. Without doubt, you will view squirrels quite differently after reading this. It's crying out for a film adaptation.  If it doesn't happen, then I hope our compensation will be a sequel.

  2. Well set up review. We all enjoyed that book so much and was as close as we could get to a "book club reading" - LOL. (NDG)
